Hi.  I'm trying to get all the emails for legislators in California.  But, the email addresses don't get returned.  I've been told that we would have to scrape the web form that submits emails to the legislators in order to get their email addresses.  Has anyone done this for California?  Can I get this list?  I'd like to make my own database with this list to query in my application.  This is the result I get from the OpenStates api query.  Email is nil.  Thanks.

California Senators and Reps don't have public email addresses. Instead, they have contact forms online. See these examples:

Has anyone scraped or created an api for applications to send data to these forms and submit it?

Thanks,

Not to my knowledge.

There are several states with web forms as I understand it. Why are California's web forms unable to be scraped?

Or, what is keeping us from being able to easily contact CA legislators?

Thanks All

So, what do you mean by scraped?

We don't (and haven't ever) provided that for State Legislators. Only Federal. If you'd like to fork that work for CA and give them proxy emails, I'm sure folks would use it

Cheers,
  Paul

That's noted, I was under the impression that fifty had done that for states too.

Yes, I might know some people who could start to dig in on this.

Thanks Paul!
