Exercising is a meaningful way your body can stay physically and mentally healthy. It’s important, however, that no matter how advanced your workouts are, that you listen to your body correctly.  Stretching is a way for your body to cool down after a workout. It allows your heart rate to return to a reasonable pace as well as help reduce muscle tension and soreness. Stretching has many benefits.

Increase Your Flexibility

When working out, you’re using muscles that you may not regularly exercise. It might be harder for you at the beginning of working out to bend, squat, stretch or flex. By stretching your muscles while they are warm, it allows for any constricted muscles to return to a comfortable state when you’re finished. The repetition of stretching will help your body to become more flexible.

Blood Circulation

When you work out, the blood in your body is pumping faster causing your heart rate go up. Stretching after a workout is a way for your heart rate to go back to its normal pace. Your body also produces something called lactic acid when you work out. Stretching afterward allows for muscles to repair and recover properly.

Boosting Your Brain Power

When your body cools down after a workout, the brain releases chemicals called endorphins. The natural chemical your body produces that makes you feel happy. Stretching after your exercise will help you feel energized and ready to take on the rest of your day.

Lower Back Pain

A common injury people have when they work out is the lower back pain. If you’re wondering what the cause could be, you might want to revisit your post work out stretching. Certain muscles affect other areas of the body. Stretching the hip flexors, pelvis, and hamstrings, can help improve lower back pain.

Tone Your Muscles

Over time stretching your muscles properly can help tone your whole body. Following yoga practices can help improve your stretching and flexibility as well as help your body appear more fit and slender.

Listen To Your Body

Make sure when you’re working out you don’t push yourself too far. Give yourself plenty of time to warm up and get your body and your muscles ready for the workout. Take things slowly and build up your endurance and strength. Use stretching to help your body recover each and every time you exercise.
