Hi everyone

First of, thank you so much for helping out with making the FDesktopRecorder what it is today.

This project have been my first real project, which I have created and truly experienced the power of opensource and the community (You).

Since I no longer have the time to maintain this project.  Artur Lacki (Lacky) has taken over as the maintainer and main developer of the project as of today (19. August 2013). He has decided not to use Transifex and Github anymore, but to use Bitbucket and Pootle insted. I really hope that you will follow him and support his work on making the FDesktopRecorder even better.

Please visit the new project site on: https://bitbucket.org/Lacky/fdesktoprecorder/

Kind regards

Ole Holm Frandsen aka Froksen

Hi

As Froksen said GitHub and Transifex will be changed. In next week probably will be hosting for project's Pootle and webpage. Compiler, language, library etc will be the same as now. This is my longterm wish list:

-New GUI
-Better support for recording games
-Recording sound from many sources at the same time
-Video streaming to popular services like Twitch, GameCreds etc.
-Adding graphics to video (watermarks etc.)
-Support for Wayland/MIR (this depends on FFmpeg developers)

I'm open for all propositions, suggestions and comments.

Hi,

not much to add here, as this feature list would automatically make it hands-down the best Linux desktop recording software! I especially like recording games and recording sound from multiple sources. Currently, all game recording software for Linux is hopelessly outdated (no longer updated, et al) and lacks that crucial streaming feature above all.

Well, I can add something to that. It would be great if we could adjust sound levels for each source. I think KMixer already kind of provides this, but you'd have to create the capture streams so that KMixer can let the user adjust them.

Talking of recording from many sources, it would be nice if there was a little SDL overlay, like Steam's, to have a push-to-talk button. This should be the last on your list though. ;-)

This Bash shell script might help your efforts in streaming to Twitch.tv and Justin.tv:
http://linuxgamecast.com/2012/08/l-g-c-how-to-broadcasting-to-twitch-tv-and-justin-tv-with-linux/ -- link to the gist at the bottom of the page, I suggest you watch the little video first though.

You may also want to look at this thread on /r/linux_gaming on this matter:
http://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/1b2gvz/i_am_creating_an_ffmpeg_powered_game_recording/ -- lots of solid suggestions here! I don't think anything came of the program.
The top comment here may help with recording sound:
http://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/1axon0/ffmpeg_sound_lags_behind/ -- contains a shell script.

Thank you for your stewardship of this program, I wish you the best of luck!

Hi
Pretty nice goals you have here, congrats, for this, just a thought will you continue to develop the plugins /modular structure for FDRecorder?
Can you add build-in and/or module to upload directly to the major video sites ( youtube, vimeo a.s.o), and/or to the hosting/cloud
(gdrive,dropbox,asus-web-storage, a.s.o) ?
###################################
And the most important question ( AFIC), can you keep this way to comunicate with us? Meaning google-groups?
###################################
As for screencast in linux , you can take a look at the ROMP source (rosa-media-player) they develop own scripts/patches for ffmpeg
for screencast.
if you care for suggestions or ideas :

here are the gits:
( they have several developers but in "import/rosa-media-player" is the unified branches.)

MRB ain't no shit

Of course I'll still communicate with other via google group.

Maybe in future will are plugins but first We must realize other goals. Also in near future I think that project should be ported to Qt5. I'm counting on your (all team) help in the development of this program.

Now I've some problem with ffmpeg (delay sound) and project to do, but when I'm done my work I'll write patch to FDesktopRecorder which repair one bug. Patch probably will be published in early September.

By the way, why, will you stop using Transifex?

As a "serial translator" (seriously, you will find my name plastered on a lot of open source software), Pootle has given me nothing but trouble. Merging offline with online files is particularly problematic. The web UI just isn't very good. Pootle has caused massive breakages in more than one translation project I have been involved in.

It is up to you, of course, for you are the project lead; however, as someone with a lot of experience in this space, I would strongly advise against it. Perhaps it has changed now, but it may be too late in the end to change translation portal.

Kind regards,

Yannis.

If Pootle is really that problematic best way is stay on Transifex. I'll
send email to Froksen about it. Thx for info.

Also I think good idea will be create wiki for FDesktopRecorder on
BitBucket. Do any of you would be willing to create and complete the wiki?

Lacky has been added as the maintainer on Transifex :-)

I will for now stay subscribed to this mailinglist, so if you have any questions for me just ask them here :-)

Looking forward to the improvements and future releases of FDesktopRecorder.

Best of luck
Ole Holm Frandsen
