I should like to announce the immediate publication of the 2002 edition of
my MIDDLE SHOGI MANUAL.

This Manual, first published in March 1993, has been regularly updated over
the years by various supplements. All these updates and corrections have now
been incorporated into the new publication and the chapter on strategy has
now also been slightly lengthened, with the addition of two more items from
the pen of Wayne Schmittberger.
The MIDDLE SHOGI MANUAL 2002 (119 pages A4) is available either in a
loose-leaf format (laser-printed A4), to enable purchasers to bind or not,
to their own taste, or it may be ordered on a CD ROM in pdf format.

"TEN SHOGI VARIANTS" (128 pages A4) is also released at the same time as a
companion publication to the Middle Shogi Manual. This includes the initial
positions, rules of play and the moves of the pieces for the following
variants:-

TORI - WA - HEIAN-DAI - DAI
TENJIKU - DAI-DAI - MAKA-DAI-DAI
TAI - TAI-KYOKU and YONIN (the modern four-handed game).

This publication has been principally taken from the individual "How to
Play" leaflets, which were first published by me in the 1980s, but also
includes the quite enormous variant TAI-KYOKU SHOGI, the piece moves of
which have only relatively recently come to light in Japan. Additional
material, re-printed from SHOGI magazine, has also been added to the chapter
on Tori Shogi.
This companion volume is likewise available either in A4 loose-leaf printed
format or on a CD ROM in pdf format.

For further details please contact me either by e-mail or by post to P.O.

Hi George

Glad You are well
We last spoke(Wrote) in Minus 1993 when you published the How to play
manuals
You were kind enough to send me copies of each

Found them very informative

Still trying to get the club going here but lack of sets and lack of money
makes it very difficult here in South Africa

I would be very interested in getting copies of the new updated manuals

Please could you advise me price etc

Thanks Lippy
