Sorry for the lull in planning/posting/thinking about the MOOC. I've got a heavy travel schedule in October, but plan to get quite serious about this in November and December.

At this point, I'm thinking that what is created may lie somewhere in between a series of sessions with preset topics and less structured pieces (#unmooc) toward a longer term development of a community of practice around ET.

As always, love your feedback and support. Will talk soon.

Hi Alec

Good to hear 'in' from you. Am waiting expectantly to the unmooc (etmooc). Like the combination of structure and openness. Have just completed a small evaluation of peer to peer university courses in school of ed, for some post grad work,  and this aspect of having balance between the these two design dimensions received very positive feedback. Certainly it will be attractive to participants unfamiliar with the etmooc world.  Way to go.

 Best wishes for safe travelling.

Thanks for keeping this moving forward Alec, I have been traveling quite a bit and to be honest, our etmooc/unmooc/whatever it turns out to be had slipped off my radar.
I am very much looking forward to whatever it is we get off the ground here!

Hi everyone,

I'm playing a little catch up after discovering the #unmooc yesterday and deciding that combining forces with you made much more sense than starting another MOOC when there is so much overlap. I work for Mozilla on the Webmaker initiative and there are a lot of topics and skills the #unmooc is planning on covering that we're also working to spread.

Here is a link to our white paper on Web Literacies: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Learning/WebLiteraciesWhitePaper
and our initial literacies/competencies/skill grid: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Learning/WebLiteracies

I added a couple of notes to the planning doc, particularly in Feb. and March weeks. I'd like to with the planning and development (and am here when you all are ready), particularly around those skills that relate to web literacies (of which there are many), open culture, and integrating webmaking into...well everything.

I have lots of resources to share, but don't want to be too overwhelming in the beginning :) Looking forward to participating and helping!

All the best,
Laura Hilliger

Hi Laura,
You're right - it makes much more sense to combine forces so that would be great!

I'm behind on the planning, but have most of December to plan. Was hoping for a January (probably mid) start date. I'd love to combine our efforts. Perhaps we can do a Skype or Google Hangout next week?

I'll take a look at your links over the next couple of days.

If others are still interested in meeting, please let me know.

Alec

Hi again,

Absolutely, let's chat very soon. Next week I could do Monday or Tuesday, but Wed - Saturday I'm at a conference in Portugal. If Monday/Tuesday won't work, the week of the 3rd would be better.

Another fun kink for scheduling, I'm in CET (but I'll stay online late if need be!)

PS I've got a gazillion more links ;)

I am very interested in this and a google hangout sounds good - other than Tuesday and Thursday mornings until 12:30 EST when I am in class I am generally available.

Hi!

My work schedule (sadly) prevents daytime meetings but I don't mind catching up later or providing input otherwise if it's feasible. Evenings are usually free.

Being down here in Australia, my times are completely opposite to yours...but I'd love to know the outcomes of any discussions. Sorry I've been very absent from discussions, but I'm learning a lot about moocs and unmoocs all the time!

Thanks everyone for still be interested in developing #etmooc

I have setup a Doodle for next week for a bit of a brainstorming/working meeting. Please complete
http://doodle.com/qzpeau5y8cuuqxn5 and hopefully we'll have a few people that can meet next week. I'd like to talk about content, roles, formats, assessments (if any), etc.

So, hopefully we can find a time where a number of us can meet. The meeting will be in Google Hangout. I'll post the link here before the decided upon meeting time.

Thanks!

Hi all,
So, with a number of responses in, could we go with the most popular date - 10:00am on Friday December 7 CST. If you need the conversion, I think you can see the time chosen on the closed Doodle poll http://doodle.com/qzpeau5y8cuuqxn5?# (please let me know if that doesn't work for you).

I have an Elluminate room setup for the meeting. I mentioned Google Hangout before, but moving to Elluminate helps to accomodate at least one person who is unable to access Hangouts. Here is the link: http://couros.ca/x/connect

I haven't touched the planning document for a while, but I will before the meeting. If people have any suggestions/comments/critiques re: content (it's VERY much a draft so far), please feel free to say anything you like. I hope to learn from everyone here. The Google Doc is found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1w0uirKvMYtU2iLdk1aGqmTkcTyVgXFJwxnM1qxEyH1U/edit

Thanks - I'm looking forward to the meeting. And I really apologize to those that couldn't be accommodated. I will record the meeting in case you'd like to view it later. And of course, there will be other meetings and ways to be involved throughout the term of the mooc. Thanks for your willingness!

Cheers,
Alec
