I'm working on the Google document today

I've outlined roughly the overview and audience, and starting to flesh out the content areas.

I think we should have at least two weeks to get people oriented to the experience of a MOOC, especially if we integrate personal learning environments into that piece.

While I don't think the focus should be on tools, I do want to make sure that we address various genres of technology in context. For instance, I think 'blogging' is an important topic. But rather than focus on Wordpress, Blogger, Edublogs, etc., it would be good to look closely at how digital writing is different, examples of different types/purposes of blogs in practice, importance of commenting, audience, etc. I think we could do something like this for several weeks (on various genres), then move into major issues in the field (privacy, identity, policies, integration strategies, etc.)

Let me know if you think I'm on the right track or just a raving lunatic. I would also be happy if people decided to fill in topics in the table - maybe we can get a sense of how this will look. Also, I've left a column for people who might want to volunteer to lead those sessions - or, I'd be happy to contact people to lead them if you have suggestions.

Thanks - again - input welcome.

I think you're on the right track. Not that this means you couldn't also be a raving lunatic.

I appreciate your support as I am in fact an aspiring raving lunatic.

In the right track! Great ideas. Like that the focus is not on tools, but genres of technology.

Looks good! danah boyd's work would be really good to reference for the privacy although I'm sure that's already in the back of your mind.

Also wondering where things like clickers or PollEverywhere would fit since there is a ton of research on how to use that type of technology and it can be really useful for informing other thoughts on using technologies. Why should you check in with your students? How do you use it to facilitate discussion? Ways to access difficult questions or sensitive situations? Derek Bruff does a lot of work on that, including the pedagogical issues and the focus is very much on good teaching rather than using gimmicks.
