Ehlers Fusion - "calloc could not allocate space for Egda_BaseData data"
By cesargdiniz in ERDAS Software Forum

Hello there...

I'm Cesar Diniz, oceanographer and post-doc student from UFPA-Brazil...I've been
testing fusion methods on IKONOS satellite imagery, more specifically,
  Ehlers Fusion on ERDAS 2010

The IKONOS image, pan and ms, covers an area about 300 kilometres
squares...below there are more detailed information about the data:

Panchromatic File Information:
Dims: 12224 x 29340 x 1 [BSQ]
>> > Size: 1368.15 Mbytes.
>> > Type: Continuos
>> > Data Type  : Float
>> > Data Order: BSQ
>> > Sensor Type: IKONOS

MS File Information:
Dims: 3056 x 7335 x 4 [BSQ]
>> > Size: 342.04 Mbytes.
>> > Type: Continuos
>> > Data Type  : Float
>> > Data Order: BSQ
>> > Sensor Type: IKONOS

The computer I'm using to fuse the images has the following hardware
configuration:

INTEL 775 CORE 2 QUAD Q9400 2.66
DDR2 4GB 800hz
Running on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bits
ERDAS 2010

....after hours processing the ERDAS Softwares stops responding...I
suppose it is RAM memory issue, caused by the complexity of the Fusion
process...but it is just a guess....

The following messege appears:

"calloc could not allocate space for Egda_BaseData data"

The question are simple:

- How can i solve this issue?

Is it a RAM memory issue?

Upgrading to 8GB of RAM would solve the problem?

Best Regards and Thanks for the Help

Cesar Diniz
