Hi all,

First off, apologies for being radio quiet on the Week of Code 2015 meeting thread.

A few weeks ago I was approached with an opportunity to join a startup, and I've decided to take the offer. I hope I'll be able to tell each of you all about it sometime soon if you care to know more, but for now I'm afraid I'll have to keep quiet. You all had not heard any updates on the workshop because I knew my decision would have an impact on its planning.

So, this means a few things for the Enzo community --

1) The workshop is going to be re-scheduled for a different time and, likely, location. Brian O'Shea will get in touch soon.

2) Answer testing. For now, I will continue to have access to the testing infrastructure here at SLAC, and will update the gold standards when needed, and kick the enzo-bot when it needs a reboot.

3) I'm not dying. I'll still be around, but just think of it as going from make opt-high to make opt-debug. I'll try to respond and be helpful when I can, but don't rely on me for high flop rates...

It has been an absolute pleasure to work with all of you. Enzo and its community has been a highlight of the last 10(!!) years of my life, and I hope it continues to be a place where new researchers feel as welcome as I did when I started.

Cheers,
Sam

Hi Sam,

Thanks for everything over the years. You've made Enzo a fun place to be.

I think I speak for everyone when I say, good luck at InGen, and we're
all really looking forward to the kinks in the park getting worked out
before the big opening this summer.

Hi Sam,

I agree with everything Matt said - it's been a pleasure to work with you for the past decade, and your contributions to Enzo, yt, and the community are greatly appreciated.  Best of luck with your new endeavor, and be sure to check the backup generators once in a while - you don't want the power to go out, since that never ends well!

Thanks for all your great work over the years Sam!  I hope you really enjoy the startup, but know that you'll be missed around these parts.

Sam!! I am so happy and excited for you. Now’s the time to let those horses run. I have lived long enough to know that people don’t disappear, they just change labels and employers. I expect to see you at Supercomputing 15, unless you’re going into fashion design or somesuch. It’s a time of amazing opportunity for someone as smart and talented as you.

Happy trails (and don’t be a stranger).
