Manager> Options > Iconizer settings. Click on Typical Settings. Then OK.

If running Windows Vista/7/8 start Embird by right clicking and running as an administrator or it won't retain the settings.

You need to go into Option/Iconizer and unclick those thing that you don’t want Embird to open.  I am not in front of it right now, but there should be options to uncheck all photos or uncheck all then just check Embroidery types.

Subject: Support with Embird

I just purchased Embird and since I've download and installed it, I'm having problems with my jpeg images.

I want my JPEG images to open with Windows Photo Viewer and now since installing Embird it wants to open

with Embird when I double click it.

I tried right clicking and changing the program I want JPEGs to open with and I get a error message:

Windows Shell Common Dll.

What can I do to correct this?

I also tried changing under Options in Embird under Associated Extensions: I double clicked the jpeg extension

and set it to open with Windows Photo Viewer and it still opens with Embird????

All you need to do is in Manager, click on Options then on Iconizer Settings.  At the bottom of the screen that comes up, click Remove Image Types and also Remove Quilting Types.  Click okay and this should take care of the problem.  Good Luck.

Thank you so very much for responding…. You have been the most informative direction-wise so far………….however as I followed yr clear instructions – when I came to “Open Explorer – I got a pop-up grey page reading Plug-in Registration with a green check mark below it… it also read “This number is not the same as password required for Embird 2012 Registration….. NOW yr instruction were after Explorer was open to change the view to med. Or large icons…..etc.    this is where I got stuck…………….am I suppose to have my p/word and enrollmt  registration on hand? ? ?

This is such a challenging program and I haven’t been able to use it yet…………….. I just want to get my dsgns loaded on my floppy…….  Thanks for taking me this far..   renee

I am not sure where the “Open Explorer” comes from.

You need to start Embird and that should open the Manager part of Embird.  Go to the top toolbar and click on Options then click on Iconizer Settings.  This will give you a screen that will allow you to select or deselect how you want Iconizer to operate.  Usually you will click Select All in the top and bottom windows and then go to the bottom of that main window and click “Remove Image Types” . This frees up the formats that are used for pictures (jpeg, etc) to be opened by other programs.  Once you click OK, Embird will run a small program checking Iconizer Settings and then you should be good to go.

HI Renee, The error message means Embird has found a password or a number in an area where it expects to find one. But it isn’t the correct one. Not sure where it got one unless you tried typing one in or you had an earlier version of Embird running on the computer.

If you have never had another version of Embird running, and are still in the 30 days or 100 opens, I would ignore that message for the moment. Go to Help > About – and click the button that says Reset all settings to their default value and remove password. Hopefully that will delete whatever it has in the password area, and put you back into trial mode where you can continue to use Embird.

If it does not help – or you are out of your 30 days or 100 opens time period, you will  have to get the password for Embird 2012 entered correctly before you can continue. If you have your password, find the newest copy of the file password.klc . It should be attached to an email that you were sent from Dusan when you purchased 2012). Copy it onto a usb stick and insert it into your computer. Then start Embird. (If running on Windows Vista/7/8, start Embird by right clicking and choosing Run as Administrator.) Click through any error messages or other windows until you get to the Manager screen. Go to Help, then Passwords. Under RECOVER, change the drive letter to the one for your USB stick. Click RECOVER. You will be instructed to restart Embird. Hopefully now the error message will be gone and you should be able to continue with getting the designs to the floppy.

The directions you repeated sound more like the ones for getting Iconizer to run, not the ones for creating a floppy to read in your Designer 1.

I am sending you a file privately. It has the directions for getting your designs successfully to your Designer 1.
