80,000 hours is a non-profit to guide people into careers that are both altruistic and rewarding.  They released a partial list of the "world's biggest problems".  Their criteria are scale, neglectedness, and solvability.

"Improving collective decision making" and "democratic reform" didn't make the list, but they are on the list of "potentially promising problems we haven’t yet investigated".

That's promising.

Maybe Clay has talked to them.  I think they're in SF and involved with YC.

I've spoken with Owen Cotton-Barratt at the Centre for Effective Altruism, which is associated. These people are great because they're essentially utilitarians.

I'll follow up to see what's come of that.
