My friends,
I have spoken to some of you about a seminar series that SCORE would like to put on with area partners, to others this is my first communication. I apologize for the late date. I have less time for such endeavors than I did when I was at SBA.
Attached is a handout explaining the vision for the program. On the second page are possible topics and presenters. Please understand that this is in the planning stage and no presenters or dates have been set. Since this is April, if we could put together 3 seminars throughout the Inland NW, I think that would be great. Each seminar would feature short presentations by area experts in a specific facet of marketing, followed by speed coaching. That way attendees could get to know the presenters better and get more questions answered.
For those of you that remember “Small Business Month” when I coordinated that for the SBA/Business Information Center, this will be similar, but more focused on marketing, and much smaller in scale. The goals are to educate small businesses on ways they can improve their marketing and thus improve sales, and to provide opportunities to those marketing professionals who are members of the various organizations. The participating organizations are not being asked for money, and any funds raised would first be used to cover expenses, then shared. We would ask that the participating organizations promote all the seminars in the series, not just their own, so we reach the largest number of small businesses available. In this era of Social Media and LaunchPad, (hopefully they will participate) it should not be hard.
In some cases I have sent e-mails to several people in the organization (i.e. NAWBO, GSI.) This is so you would have information to discuss at a board meeting, if necessary. I do not expect everyone to come, but if at least one person from an organization could attend, that would be helpful.
SBA – this is info only. I don’t expect you to attend. If you aren’t on furlough, you will be busy enough.
Dave McKenzie – please forward to the Idaho Chambers – I did not have contact information for them.
To those of you who are not in the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene area, do not feel you need to attend. If you want to be a part of it, just let me know.
ITT Tech is right off I-90 in the Valley. Exit at Evergreen and turn north (left if coming from Spokane), and then turn left on Indiana. ITT is on the left/south side of the road. Parking is free. Thank you Chris, for allowing us to meet at your beautiful facility.
Please give me a call if you have any questions, or would like to discuss this further. If I have missed anyone you think should attend, please free to pass this on.
