Google Earth Outreach and Google Geo Education are hosting the 2nd Annual Geo for Higher Ed Summit, a 3-day hands-on workshop geared toward higher education instructors and researchers who want to use Google’s mapping tools in their undergrad and grad-level teaching, coursework, or research.

Here is more information and how to apply:

  • What: 2nd Annual Geo for Higher Ed Summit

  • When: August 11-13, 2014 (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday)

  • Where: Google Headquarters, Mountain View, California

  • Who: The workshop is designed for mapping and technology specialists, instructors, faculty, and advisers in higher education research and teaching, who are actively working on projects or teaching courses related to mapping. This Summit will bring together instructors and researchers in GIS and remote sensing technologies from higher education institutions.

  • What will you learn? You will learn highly practical online tools for geographers and GIS/RS academics, to collect, host, analyze, visualize, and publish map data using the power of the cloud. Special attention will be paid to new Google tools, including Google Maps Engine (GIS in the cloud), Google Earth Engine (remote sensing in the cloud), and others. You’ll also be able to share your experiences, connect with Google instructors and engineers, and get the resources you need to use these tools in your research and teaching.

To ensure an effective hands-on experience, there will be a limited number of seats -- learn more and apply at geoforhighered2014.earthoutreach.org (Last day to apply is June 9th, so apply now!)

We invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity. And please feel free to forward to anyone you think might be interested in this.
