Hi,

I am getting an error when I try to import a record. Can anyone help?

Thanks,

- Keith

Thanks for everyones help. it was a problem with the directory. I used the
directory of the actual item where it appears it wants a parent directory
and it will traverse through. Thanks!

...However, I am now getting the error:

java.lang.NullPointerException
at org.dspace.app.itemimport.ItemImport.addItems(ItemImport.java:331)
at org.dspace.app.itemimport.ItemImport.main(ItemImport.java:331)

I read somewhere on the list that someone had a similar problem and it was
an empty field in the dublin_core.xml. However, I examined this file
closely and I don't see a problem. Any ideas?

Thanks,

- Keith

Did you make sure that every dcvalue has an element and a qualifier? That
bit us in the beginning. If there is no qualifier for any given value,
make sure the file says qualifier="none". An example showing this is at
http://dspace.org/technology/system-docs/application.html#itemimporter

Hi Jennifer,

This is a good point. In the next version of DSpace I'll make sure that
either "none" isn't required, or that it's very clear in the documentation
that "none" is required if there is no qualifier.

Hello,
The problem may be in the argument of location of
import directory, the argument should be a directory
of items - not a single item directory.
hope this helps.
