Thanks to Chris for helping organize it, and to everyone who helped fund the dust collector project, I'm making a harbor freight run this weekend to pick up the dust collector.

Anyone want anything while I'm there?

Just a reminder, we could still use some donations to cover the additional space projects.

Thanks Ray, that's a good point:

We did not raise the full amount needed for the dust collector project, but it is safety equipment that we should probably have -- so the remainder of the cost will be covered by group funds.

The air compressor project is currently stalled due to lack of funding. We need black pipe, fittings, and the loan of a pipe threader (or enough funding to rent a pipe threader) so we can plumb in air lines. We could still use donations to help make that happen.

To those who have pledged funds or are willing to add to the project, please put money in the black box. There are sticky notes and a pen on the front of it so you can write down the amount and what the donation is for and attach it to your donation.

That goes for all cash or check donations. You do NOT have to wait to see me in person.

Thanks!

I picked up the dust collector and left it in the space by the furnace room door. Thank you to everyone who contributed towards it, and thanks in advance to everyone who has promised to provide materials and help set it up!

I will start getting the materials for the separator rounded up, so we can get started on the build-out conversion.
Remember, that we still need to get the wall hole opened up to let the vac hose and air hose pass through

Holes in the structurally unsound wall make me nervous. If you can't fit the piping through the existing holes.... We need to have a sit down with the building management before anything else is done to it.

The existing hole needs to be just a bit larger.  Whoever needs to do it.  The other option is to put the DC inside our suite.  I don't have a preference.  I will bow the ideas of the board.

We probably should have worked this out before buying the dust collector, but that doesn't matter now.

How much is "just a bit larger"? Grinding it out just a touch might not be a deal breaker. Expanding it to accommodate a 4" duct is not an option. That said, if we end up unable to keep it in the garage I'm sure we can still find a way to install it. There's the utility closet, or possibly the rear-most bathroom in the back area.

Well...when we ran through the setup, there wasn't any objection to opening the hole.  That said, I guess we move it inside, as it will need a 4" dust, that will be approx. 5" O.D.  When can we get the barrel?  I need to measure the opening to get the round parts cut out.

That's fair, and it's my bad.

I'll be at the space this afternoon / evening and will measure inside the furnace room. I think there's an excellent chance it'll fit in there. If not, we'll work something out.

Is the barrel at the space yet?

I believe that Nabil said it is in his truck.  He was trying to convince other open house people to help him unload it.
