PSA: Check your fire extinguishers

There's a massive recall on Kidde fire extinguishers. It includes pretty much every plastic-handled or push-button fire extinguisher made since 1973: https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2017/kidde-recalls-fire-extinguishers-with-plastic-handles-due-to-failure-to-discharge-and

Two of the four fire extinguishers in the space are included in the recall. They were recently re-certified, but we've applied for replacements anyway.

PSA, check your fire extinguishers to see if they're affected (and, you know, make sure they're charged and whatnot).

I used one today at work in the shop to put out a forklift that went up in flames.

I was helping another mechanic, he had been using carb cleaner. And a bad spark plug wire shorting off to ground made for an exciting flash fire. We got it put out before it could burn through any propane hoses.

Carb cleaner is both fantastic and terrible. Glad you got it under control.
