Arducopter 2.9.1b: Streamrates SR3 - should start without request?

Hi,

just to make sure... When I set the rates for streams in the SR3_*
parameters, are those streams supposed to start without further remote
request as soon as the APM finished booting?

If so, I think there might be a bug, because on my APM I only get
heartbeats after booting. Nothing else.

SR3_* values are set as follows:
SR3_EXT_STAT 2
SR3_EXTRA_1 5
SR3_EXTRA_2 2
SR3_EXTRA_3 3
SR3_PARAMS 0
SR3_POSITION 2
SR3_RAW_CTRL 0
SR3_RAW_SENS 2
SR3_RC_CHAN 5

Mission Planner sets those parameters when it connects.  if you have them set incorrectly in MP then you may not get the results you want.

In ArduPlane the parameters are sticky over reboot. In Arducopter you need to re-request the datastreams on connection of your GCS

I did report that a couple weeks ago, i think that it is a bug or something that is not yet implemented in the Arducopter firmware.


It is mandatory to have that if using an OSD and telemetry at the same time, but telemetry link is not connected.

Is there a reason for which we do not have those sticky parameters after reboot inside Arducopter ?

When using a minimosd board, it does not work if the telemetry link is not connected because the OSD card TX wire in this case cannot be connected at the same time as the 3DRadio one.

So the OSD card cannot request those parameters, except if we put a physical switch to select witch card will gives it's TX line to the APM.


Would be nice to have that inside 3.0.

There used to be a large performance hit with the stream rates. On AC it flew noticeably better with coms off. 

Not sure if that's true today, but I know we are pretty constrain still.
