Dear Fabricators, Makers, Entrepreneurs, Hackers, Artists, and Crafters,

After eleven years and 450 fab labs, the International Fab Lab Network (fabfoundation.org) is returning to Boston, it’s birthplace, to celebrate how digital fabrication tools and technologies are transforming the world, from the global economy to our local communities. The Fab Festival is the public outreach of Fab11 and will connect local and International innovators while providing an educational, entertaining hands-on experience for the Boston area.

This free event will be held on August 8th and 9th at the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury Crossing in Boston. It’s a one-of-a-kind opportunity to showcase your creative, groundbreaking and engaging work in the fab/maker community with a passionate and curious audience.

Thank you to everyone who responded to our call for participation! The FAB Gest is happening this weekend at the Reggie Lewis Center at Roxbury Crossing on Saturday and Sunday August 8th and 9th. Mayor Marty Walsh will be speaking at noon joining mayors from around the world in a discussion about “Making Cities” that are sustainable, responsible and vital economically. In addition there will be tons of free workshops, demonstrations, exhibits, and talks about digital fabrication and making things.

Fab labs are publicly-accessible workshops that use tools that are designed and controlled with digital tools like 3D printers, CNC routers,  milling machines and laser cutters that allow you to make almost anything!  So if you have ever wanted to illuminate your clothes with designers from Barcelona, build a laser cutter from scratch with Egyptians, create a 3D printing a model of your face,  make an insect robot with students from rural India, or hear about a Floating Fab Lab on the Amazon this is your chance.

To see the full schedule go to http://www.fab11.org/fab-festival/boston-fab-festival/

Hope to see you there!
