demo us-site won't stay logged in

It won't stay logged in when attempting to test out simple features inside the 'dashboard' (store-admin style) section of the site. I can get to any page, but frequently get re-prompted to login (especially when I POST) any data. 

Is this a known issue? seems very strange for what otherwise seems like a perfectly working demo/example system.
