Adding Channels, for 'chat' purposes.

I am hoping to integrate Django Channels with Django CMS but I am not sure how best to go about it.

Would I need to write an AppHook, a Plugin or modify the core code directly? I suspect the latter will be required.

Any advice appreciated. FYI, I am an experience Python developer and an intermediate Django one but I am new to this project.

PS I have looked for existing chat facilities but there do not seem to be any.
