Aren't all organisms, maybe outside viruses, easily sentient? If they weren't
self-aware, how could they maintain such dynamic homeostasis? Why is
killing 1 animal, made of billions of cells... worse than killing a
billion cells grown in a vat... or raked from the limbs as fertile
embryos (seeds)? It seems if you really wanted to be 100% morally-pure
you'd only eat fruit. Cells that the organism trades in order to
spread its progeny. (Even though with agriculture this is somewhat of
a cruel trick we're playing these days) Do you really think DNA can't
'feel'? It certainly feels the pull and twist of electrons that a
ligase or nuclease affects.

Okay Nathan, you had me at "do you think DNA can't feel?" Made me wonder... What if DNA could feel, that's a really wild thought, that it could "feel" every break, every cut and ligation, what would that "feeling" be?

It's something to think about, right? But you mentioned many words without defining them. What does it mean to "feel" or to "kill"? Good communication depends on laying down some definitions. Otherwise, what you mean as one might be something else to me.

This is getting into the philosophical realm, isn't it?
