Hi, all,

I have a couple of TEAC FD55GFR 5.25" floppy drives in a bay with a
FC5025 controller. I had it working fine (I swear! I imaged floppies and
they were fine!) until this morning, when the drive started making a
horrible rattling noise whenever any disk was inserted.

Doesn't matter which drive I hook the controller to, nor what kind of
floppy I insert. I did not swap out the ribbon, so that's one
possibility. Any other ideas why the rig's gone bad? I hope it's not the
controller itself...

Answering my own question: After a great deal of fuss and frustration, I
(think I) discovered that the setup is finicky about what's plugged in
where if it's a multi-drive ribbon cable. The fix appears to have been
plugging the FC5025 into the other available socket in the ribbon cable.

Oh, and red edge of cable near Pin 1, but you knew that already. :)
