encrypted data in Diaspora

Hi, i'm working on Diaspora and i'd like to encrypt all data that users upload on server. 

At the time i've modified Diaspora only to upload encrypted pictures (encrypted via javascript), and decrypt them after download (when a user needs to see the pictures).

At the time i've written a toy example in which all pictures of all users are encrypted with the same password. 

Next step is to manage the passwords to encrypt data and decrypt them when friends need to see the pictures.

Who wants to give advice or criticism is welcome.
