configured diaspora

hi all,

i think of open a social network with ruby and testing diaspora now.

would like to know few thinks:

1. advertisements to support the project is allowed? is it a built-in plugin?

2. change code to show online-users is allowed/possible with diaspora?

3. is there a ready to use diaspora templates to change feel and look?

4. as administrator of the pod, can I send all pod users a private messages for certain events?

We don't have built in support for advertisements but you are welcome to
include such changes to your server running diaspora*. Of course you
need to remember that diaspora* is licensed as AGPL so you need to make
those code changes available for your users. diaspora* does this
automatically by bundling the source into an archive which is offered to
users via a link in the UI - this cannot be removed as it would violate
the license.

Sure, go ahead. If you make it well enough, consider suggesting it to
the main code.

No sorry - but again, feel free to change whatever you want.

No but this would be a really nice feature. If you do make it, please
consider submitting the code upstream :)
