Hi there,

I'd like to set up a development pod in order to work on some bugs and
learn my way around the app. However, it looks like the installation
instructions for MySQL-development are incomplete; specifically, there
doesn't appear to be any discussion of how to configure nginx or Apache.

As an example, the production-mysql Configuration section has links to a
couple "reverse proxy" setup gists:

https://wiki.diasporafoundation.org/Installation/Debian/Jessie?db=mysql&mode=production#Configuration

But the same section in the development-mysql Configuration section
doesn't mention anything about web server setup here:

https://wiki.diasporafoundation.org/Installation/Debian/Jessie?db=mysql&mode=development#Configuration

Should the production "reverse proxy" gists be used for development mode?

The same section is also lacking mention of web server config in the
development-postgresql Configuration section.

My main goal is just to get a pod running so I can start fixing bugs and
learn my way around.

Thanks much for any help!

> Hi there,

Never mind, I was lacking knowledge of Rails.

Maybe I can hack together a total-Rails-noob intro guide while I flail
at this, is it possible to get wiki write access?

We had registrations on the wiki disabled for a couple of days due to execessive spam. We just enabled them again so you could sign up and start contributing to it.

However I'm not sure our wiki is the best place for this, as it's not apparent as such information ages and often that it's based on personal experiences rather than a formalized approach to explaining it. Maybe you got a blog or something where you can publish such a guide?

Regards,
Jonne
