Hi!
Just wondering: What would be the best way to get a working development environment?
I landed here:
https://wiki.diasporafoundation.org/Installationand tried to install Ubuntu Trusty, PostrgreSQL, Development on a 32 bit machine and got stuck.
I also tried the Vagrant/Puppet/Capistrano approach (because I'm a big Vagrant fan) and also got stuck.
(I left red markings on
https://wiki.diasporafoundation.org/Installation/Vagrant_puppet_capistrano ,
in case there is someone maintaining the article.)
Maybe it's fate that I'm just a native Windows user and only boot Linux occasionally, though I had the
impression that I know enough for most tasks on Linux and already did rather complex installations.
I do C++ code for living, thinking Ruby on Rails is something I could manage. But maybe a crack
admin is also needed here...?
Has anyone tried to follow one of the installation instructions to the letter recently?
Anyway, I think I will give my old Mac a try. If this doesn't work either, I think I'll consider Diaspora
not open enough for me and move towards new shores where contributing is easier.
Cheers,
Thomas
