Speaker: Dr Basanta Bidari.

Profile: 
Dr Basanta is the retired Chief Archeologist of Lumbini Archeology Park, who discovered the marker stone in Lumbini that identified the exact birth spot of Prince Sidharta Gautama. He is an excellent speaker and an expert engaged in excavating  Kapilavastu, the home to Prince Sidharta and the capital of the Sakya clan. 




3). 14-MAY-2016 (Saturday): INVOCATION & ASPIRATION (I&A)

Chanting of Protective Verses has been a devotional practice by Buddhists over the centuries to create merits and invoke for blessings and protection. Recitals with confidence in the truth of the Buddha’s words can help to heal and induce positive mental attitude that brings happiness (Ven.Maha Thera Piyadassi 1975).


Once a month, BGF brings together Buddhists to collectively invoke for blessings and to reaffirm one’s faith in the Triple Gem bychanting the protective verses of 28 Buddhas and Victory stanzas. 


Join us for a day together to collectively invoke for blessings for oneself, our loved ones, friends and relatives as well as for peace and harmony of the country and the world through chanting of theprotective verses. BGF looks forward to your participation to accumulate merits and pray for the well  being and happiness of oneself and all.  

Please bring along your mala beads.

 4) Sunday@Bgf : The Significance of Wesak by Bro Loi Hui Kong

In this talk, Bro Loi will be exploring what Wesak means to a practising Buddhist. What is the purpose of the birth of a Buddha etc?


Bro.  Loi is a life member of  the BGF, Buddhist Missionary Society, YBAM & Buddhist Business Network (BBN).  In the 1980s he was actively involved in BGF activities where he held various positions in the BGF, including being the Deputy President, and Pro-tem President while awaiting BGF’s official registration in 1989.  He was also active in the Selangor Buddhist Association Youth Circle of the Jalan Peel Buddhist Temple in the  late 1980s, serving as its Deputy Chairman.  

Presently, he is involved in training activities of the BGF, mainly in the training of the Buddhist Counseling Service and Effective Communication courses.  He is presently the Secretary of BBN.

His career spans being in the civil service, bank and running his own management training company. He is married with four children.

Graduated from UPM with an Education Degree and a Master Degree in SocioPsychology from Universiti Malaya ♦ Currently is the Partner and Principal Consultant of THC Consulting Sdn. Bhd – a Malaysian-based Organisational Development (OD) consulting outfit. ♦ Prior to this, he worked as General Manager of Organisational Development for a large local conglomerate in Malaysia ( The Sunway Group ). In his tenure there, he strategized and implemented various Organisational Development initiatives such as Talent Identification and Development initiative, Succession Planning roll-out and Competency development work. ♦ Huat Chye had also worked as Senior Vice-President of Human Resources for Great Eastern Life and a Senior Consultant for HayGroup, a leading US global HR Consulting firm. ♦ Got in touch with Buddhism since schooling days in Melaka – founded the Malacca Catholic High School Buddhist Society (1976), the Pasir Panjang Teachres’ Training College Buddhist Fellowship ( 1980) and Founding Members of Bentong Buddhist Association and Kemayan Buddhist Association. ♦ Main source of inspiration has always been the late Ven K,Sri Dhammananda, whose talks and writings had earlier introduced him to Buddhism. ♦ Previously served 2 terms as the Committee Members of Buddhist Missionary Society of Malaysia and the Founding President of Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society, Puchong. ♦ A well sought after Buddhist speakers for conferences and Inter-faith Dialogue or Forum. Also involves in Buddhist Music development work in Malaysia. – The original group member of the renown English Buddhist Hymns Group, the “Wayfarers”. ♦ Personally produced 3 Chinese Buddhist Hymns albums in 1988 (Yi Can Deng), 1992 (Hui Deng) and 1994 (Deng). ♦ Appointed as the Head of the Panel Judges for Fo Guang Shan’s Master Hsin Yun “Sounds of the Human World” International Buddhist Songs Writing Competition (2008) held in KL Convention Centre. ♦ Appointed as Think-Tank Panel for the Theravada Buddhist Council of Malaysia (TBCM) since 2015. ♦ At present, Bro. Profile : 

Kyabje Sharpa Choeje Rinpoche is a foremost master of Buddhist contemplative theory and practice, and is currently third in line to the Ganden throne, the head position in the Geluk tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. Born in the Kham region of eastern Tibet in 1936, Rinpoche entered Drepung Loseling Monastery in Lhasa for his training. In 1959 he followed His Holiness the Dalai Lama into exile in India and continued his studies in the reestablished Drepung Loseling Monastery in south India, where he received the Geshe Lharam degree, the equivalent of a doctorate in philosophy and the highest degree of training in Tibetan Buddhism, in the late 1970s. He was then appointed Deputy Abbot and then Abbot of Gyuto Tantric College by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. After completing his tenure as Abbot, Kyabje Sharpa Choeje Rinpoche now resides at Drepung Loseling Monastery, where he teaches and participates actively in the education of monks training for the Geshe degree. In the position of the Sharpa Choeje Rinpoche, he travels extensively around the world to attend conferences, teach on Tibetan Buddhism, and provide advice and guidance to groups and individuals in their spiritual practice and development.
