Happy to offer the following 2 events on different Thursday nights, every month until after the mini maker faire

a) Open Make/Raspberry pi mini Jam. 6.30 - 8.30 free unless we say otherwise. Come and meet anyone who wants to display any raspberry by related project, help out, or join one of the classes that will be run from time to time.
Help needed - other makers to help run these events, & I’m assuming we’ll be able to use the existing stock of Pi’s

b) Open HAB project

Meeting monthly to plan, design and then make the balloon and payload so that we can launch a small balloon into the air and see how high it goes and what data inc photos we get. Also recover the balloon for reuse. I hope to be able to launch a couple of times over the summer with another launch over the weekend of the Derby mini maker faire in October. we’ll need to get CAA permission to launch to make sure that that flight safety rules are complied with.
I’d like the first public meeting to be on Thursday 18th Feb to form the protect team and get on with it.

Tony

What is the process if a workshop requires either funding for...
1. general equipment/material to enable the workshop
2. specific materials so the participant can take away their work

Can we, if so how do we charge for a workshop?

Clarity on this would help me prioritise through some of my potential workshops

I understand these are the rules - all piled together over the last couple of months

Funding from the Silk Mill for an event or for items (e.g. flashy badges if we don’t want to do the funding/admin
For support items, e.g. item 1, the same.

We can/do charge for workshops but we must tell the Silk Mill how much and that cost needs to be in the programme inc the printed one.

Consumables seems a grey area, or it’s all sorted and I’ve simply not kept up with it: either is possible

Hello everyone,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and great ideas.  Your support on two programming strands in particular would be greatly appreciated at this stage.  I will be around until 8/9pm next Wednesday to talk this through and share the wider programming structure too if anyone is around;

OPEN MAKE

Open Make is now Thursday 3-9pm and Saturday 1-5pm.  During Open Make, there will be;

  • A changing programme of Maker Bar activities
  • 'The Hub' - where people can learn about the collections and the process the objects will go through as they are packed away
  • Pilot activities (pop up trials that can happen as and when!)
  • Derby Makers activities - programmes such as Minecraft Museum, Raspberry Pi Jam etc

MEET THE MAKER

The first Thursday of every month, Thursday 6-8pm.

Meet the Maker will be a chance for a Maker to showcase their current projects and inspire people to create!  The best way to describe this is as a pop up stall from the Maker Faire - engaging and hands on.

Suggestions of Makers to feature as part of this would be most welcome at this stage!

As I have said I will be around next Wednesday to discuss this and would like to thank you for your activities that have been suggested so far.

 We do have a programming budget so requests for specific materials can be made to me directly and we can see if it will be feasible.  This will have to be done on a case by case basis.

Thank you :)

Chris

Thanks for the update Chris.
Put me down as a "Meet the Maker" candidate.
Cheers, Morgan
