Java 8 Requirement for Jenkins Plugin

For users of the OWASP Dependency-Check Jenkins plugin, be advised that the upcoming release of v3.1.1 will require Java 8. The plugin will no longer run on Java 7.

This requirement does not affect its scanning capabilities, only the runtime requirements. The folks at CloudBees have graciously contributed to the plugin and the community is all attempting to update to newer versions of parent poms. There are simply too many hacks and workarounds for older parent poms, which is why the Jenkins community is trying to update all plugins to use modern parents.

Users still running Jenkins masters or slaves on Java 7 are advised not to update to 3.1.1 or higher.
