For OS X users, there's a homebrew formula now for the Dependency Check CLI. Just

brew install dependency-check

and the CLI should be on your PATH (assuming HOMEBREW_PREFIX/bin is on your PATH). Data is kept in HOMEBREW_PREFIX/var so that new updates won't end up requiring you to get new CVE data if you've gotten it recently, and a full copy of the built-in properties file is put in HOMEBREW_PREFIX/etc and linked into the DC classpath so that you can make global changes to the properties and not have to specify -P for every invocation.

In the future, we'll try to work out a way where the default data directory is in your home directory, but that will require some changes to DC itself, so it'll be a little while before those come.
