Hi all,

I'm trying to get Mark to run on a mac (OS Sierra, 10.12.6) using RMark and running into some stumbling blocks.

I have the mark executable (mark) in a local directory on my computer. If I navigate to that directory in the terminal and run ./mark, I get the following "No input file was specified, so MARK job is done // STOP No input file", which I think means it's installed correctly. At the start of my R script, before I load RMark, I set the MarkPath so RMark can find mark and when I load RMark, it says "This is RMark 2.2.4
 Documentation available at http://www.phidot.org/software/mark/rmark/RMarkDocumentation.zip."

When I try to run a model using mark from the examples in the RMark documentation, however, I get this error:

sh: mark: command not found
Error in run.mark.model(model, invisible = invisible, adjust = adjust,  :

Output file does not exist. Unable to find or run mark.exe

Anyone use RMark on a mac and have thoughts on what to try next? I tried installing gfortran, as suggested here, http://www.phidot.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=3233.

Thanks for any thoughts!

I had similar frustrations installing on a Mac and eventually went with VirtualBox/Parallels to run Windows on my Mac for MARK.  My hunch is that it's the equivalent of a Windows PATH issue for where R is looking for the mark.exe file, but I don't have much insight other than that, sorry!

Hi Allison

If you are on campus today, you can stop by the
Data Science Initiative space (360 Shields Library) for my office hours
at 12-1, or I'm also free 11-11.30 and I can see if I can help.

Duncan
