Hi

I need some advise on this.

Patient drive: Toshiba DT01ACA050 500GB 3.5". One platter, One Head (0) Bottom of platter.

Donor drive: Matches patient 100% except that this has head (1) Top of platter.

Will it work if I flip the platter around? I don't think so myself because mechanically the bottom side will spin the opposite way.

I just need confirmation.

Thanks!

That would only work if you put the platter in a Shitgate 2.5 then put that 2.5 in a gutted Western Digital 3.5 drive and imaged it backwards with MHDD in DOS. They call it "Seatoshital". Should also increase the speed of imaging by about 15%.

Ha! Sorry, I had to, just for fun. You are absolutely right, turning it over would reverse the direction of the tracks and it just simply wouldn't work.

Regards

You would have to sure a program to re write all the data s-d-r-a-w-k-c-a-b -->backwards
Then all the sectors in reverse.
..
No wait..
I know,
Just look at it all in a mirror.
DONE! Boom!

Hehe

I think that you can wire the 3 motor signals backwards and it will spin in reverse.

But fluid dynamic bearings contain an oil pump.
Don't know how well that would work in reverse.

Let us know.
