Hi All,

I'm looking to connect with someone who has some knowledge about how the Assembly Constituencies were divided between Andhra Pradesh & Telangana.

What I'm trying to do is to update our Maps Repo, and get the Assembly Constituency & Lok Sabha Constituency Data to reflect the current situation for these states.

There is this list [1] of 119 constituencies which I can use, but I'm confused about a small area in Khammam District.

On 11 July 2014, the Lok Sabha approved a bill transferring seven mandals of Khammam district back to Andhra Pradesh [2]

This area is a part of 3 Assembly Constituencies:

What happened to these 3 Assembly constituencies? How were they divided? In Which Constituency of Andhra Pradesh was this area added?

And information on this topic would be highly appreciated.

Here is some clarity

1. Not the entire 7 mandals have been transferred to AP from Telangana. Only a few villages that are to be submerged by the Polavaram project have been transferred.  Refer to the amendment text of the AP Reorganization Act

Mandals of Kukunoor, Velairpadu and Bhurgampadu but not including its revenue villages of Pinapaka,  Morampalli Banzar, Bhurgampad, Nagineniprolu, Krishnasagar, Tekula, Sarapaka, Iravendi, Mothepattinagar, Uppusaka, Sompalli and Nakripeta under the Palvancha Revenue Division, and the Mandals of Chintoor, Kunavaram, Vararamachandrapuram and Bhadrachalam but not including the revenue village of Bhadrachalam under the Bhadrachalam Revenue Division

Even in Bhadrachalam, the Bhadrachalam town is in Telangana while some villages in that mandal are in AP.

2. Hence a substantial geography of what you mentioned in the picture is still in Telangana. Hence it has not affected the Assembly constituencies. The reorganization might happen before the 2019 assembly polls. But for now, there is no change in the assembly constituencies.

Dear Srini,

have this one from the Andhra Pradesh's East Godavari District Revenue Officer.

All seven mandals have been merged into Andhra Pradesh. Of the seven, four mandals-- Kunavaram, V R Puram, Chintoor and Nellipaka-- now form part of Rampachodavaram Assembly constituency in East Godavari district. The remaining three, Kukunuru, Burgampadu and Velerupadu form part of Polavaram Assembly constituency in West Godavari district.
