Hi,

Is highlighting allowed in Datacite Solr searches?

It seems that from trying e.g., http://search.datacite.org/api?wt=json&q=ecology&start=0&hl=true&fl=DOES_NOT_EXIST&hl.fl=title that highlighting is not allowed.

Thanks! Scott

That is correct. Highlighting and faceting is currently disabled for our API due to capacity and performance considerations.

You can look at the current configuration (requestHandler /public/api) here:

https://github.com/datacite/search/blob/master/src/main/resources/solrconfig.xml

Sebastian,

Thanks. That's weird though as I do get results when faceting. For example: http://search.datacite.org/api?q=wind&facet.field=publisher&wt=json&fl=DOES_NOT_EXIST&facet=true

I can't tell whether stats is on or off from that document, but some stats calls do work, like http://search.datacite.org/api?q=ecology&stats.field=date&start=0&rows=0&wt=json&stats=true

mlt seems to work as well http://search.datacite.org/api?q=*:*&mlt=true&fl=id,title&mlt.count=2&mlt.fl=title&start=0&wt=json - but isn't clear from that document that it's enabled.

Cheers, Scott
