The Congressional Budget Office is a small nonpartisan agency that provides economic and budgetary analysis to the Congress and has open two datavis jobs.

Digital Publishing and Data Visualization Specialist

The Management, Business, and Information Services division—which provides support services—seeks a digital publishing and data visualization specialist to (1) design and implement new approaches to publishing that focus on the web (instead of on the printed page) as the first or sole destination and (2) design graphics and data visualizations that convey objective analysis in a sophisticated way. Initial responsibilities include helping to maintain and adjust the current report production system (which relies on FrameMaker, Excel, DeltaGraph, Illustrator, and other tools), producing publications (with others), and conceptualizing and precisely executing statistical graphics and data visualizations that are aesthetically pleasing. Candidates must have at least five years of experience that encompasses digital publishing, graphic design, and data visualization and a bachelor’s or advanced degree. Occasional evening and weekend work, usually with some notice, is necessary. Please submit a cover letter that reflects your ideas about influencing CBO’s next steps in publishing and data visualization, along with a résumé, salary history, two work samples, and contact information for three references at www.cbo.gov/careers.
