We are looking for exceptionally talented software engineers, data engineers, and data scientists at all levels to build out the most advanced clinical IT and analytics platform the pharmaceutical industry has ever seen.

 

Informatics at Covance is a high profile, high impact team that is charged with creating world-class, innovative data-driven solutions to improve the speed, cost and quality of drug development and help pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies bring the miracles of medicine to the people in need faster.

 

As a key member of the Informatics team, you will be responsible for designing and developing high performing and aesthetically pleasing (read, dazzling) software solutions designed for web and mobile delivery to enable scalable, secure and intuitive access to data by Covance’s global network of employees, partners, and clients. Working in a highly collaborative environment, you will help drive product innovation and work with internal and external engineering teams to build and launch data-enabled capabilities and service offerings. Key areas of focus include, but are not limited to: 1) the integration and analysis of preclinical, clinical, health outcomes, and social networking data to improve protocol design, clinical site selection, and patient enrollment; 2) the design of intuitive visual interfaces to enhance the efficiency and quality of clinical monitoring; 3) the development of advanced software systems and interfaces for clinical trial design and simulation; and 4) the development of integrated clinical trial dashboards for internal and external use.

Desired skills and experience:

• Experience in large-scale software engineering, web/mobile application development, distributed computing, and algorithm design.
  
• Proficiency in HTML5/JavaScript application development.
  
• Experience with open source/commercial JS frameworks such as Angular, Node, jQuery, Backbone, or similar.
  
• Experience in .NET, C#, ASP.NET and web service development.
• Experience with developing applications leveraging relational and/or NoSQL databases, including MS SQL, Oracle, CouchDB, MongoDB, Solr, or similar.
• Experience with data visualization on the web, familiarity with D3.js or similar.
• Experience in managing, integrating, analyzing, and visualizing biomedical data.
• Good taste, passion for the end-user experience.
• Ability to manage individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables; ability to lead a project with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal skills, proficiency in verbal and written English.

Qualifications:

• BS degree in computer science, life sciences, engineering, or similar field with evidence of strong academic performance; MS or PhD preferred.
  
• Experience in pharmaceutical R&D, clinical development and/or healthcare IT desired.
