The Congressional Budget Office is a small nonpartisan agency that provides economic and budgetary analysis to the Congress and has open a new datavis job that we would appreciate you sharing.

 

Visual Information and Production Specialist

The Editorial and Publishing Services unit, which is part of the Management, Business, and Information Services Division, seeks a Visual Information and Production Specialist to help make CBO’s publications clear and accessible to a broad audience. The specialist will work with staff members throughout the agency on reports, graphics, slide decks, infographics, and presentations. Responsibilities include conceptualizing and precisely executing statistical graphics and data visualizations (such as tables, charts, and graphs) that are aesthetically pleasing; helping in their early development by attending meetings and reviewing drafts to recommend opportunities; and crafting cohesive graphical stories. Responsibilities also include producing publications with FrameMaker, InDesign, Excel, DeltaGraph, Illustrator, and other tools. Candidates must have at least three years of experience in graphic design, data visualization, and the production of publications, as well as a bachelor’s or advanced degree. They must be proficient with Adobe products and Microsoft Office. Experience with quantitative information presented in tables, charts, and graphs is required. Occasional evening and weekend work, usually with some notice, is necessary.
