POSITION SUMMARY

Our mission at iTriage/Wellmatch is to empower consumers to take control of their health every day by giving them actionable healthcare information through smart technology. the Data Journalist will create informative and compelling written and visual communications for our consumer end users.

Fundamental Components:
  • The Data Journalist will research and develop data-informed business and consumer stories, either alone or in collaboration with business units, for use in driving key business decisions, product development, and promoting health mastery in consumers. This role will produce data visualization products which support the self-developed data stories to ensure the best representation of the data for each specific audience. These data stories may be short- or long-term focused, and may include predictive and/or prescriptive elements to improve strategic business decisions and/or consumers' health behaviors and literacy.
  • Ability to define and build collaborative relationships with audiences (internal and external) for information consumption.
  • Transform data into understanding/wisdom through clear, concise, and deep "journalistic" approaches.
  • Innovate in storytelling approaches to present importance and value to business and consumers.
  • Deep ability to "play with data" through visual and data wrangling/parsing/scraping techniques and tools.
  • Create visual story applications to deliver BI/analytic solutions to constituents to enable actionable insights and promote consumer health mastery.
  • Perform applied statistical research and custom analytics on integrated healthcare and digital health data, interpret results, and make recommendations based on analytic findings to business areas.
  • Regularly use tools to monitor how work is performing.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:
  • Data Journalism - writing and visualization for consumers. Please be prepared to provide work samples of your articles.
  • 3-5 years (or more) experience in data visualization, data science, statistics, health informatics, and/or econometrics.
  • Bachelor's/Master's degree or equivalent, ideally in data science, statistics, or business analytics.
  • Advanced skills in some/all of: data mining/wrangling, databases and SQL, statistical packages such as R, SAS, and Python, visualization tools like Tableau and D3.

EDUCATION
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Technical - Development Languages/SQL/1-3 Years/
