The Deseret News seeks a news editorial developer to assist in the production of content projects across the company. The right candidate is one who is eager to use his or her skills to partner with other journalists to tell high-impact stories. This position is located in beautiful downtown Salt Lake City. Successful candidates may have experience:

  • Collecting and analyzing data ' helping to understand and tell "the story"
  • Explaining and visualizing data through charts, maps and other visual elements
  • Developing in HTML 5, CSS 3, JavaScript and with responsive design
  • Using visualization technologies like D3.js, SVGs
  • Working in a detail-oriented environment with a passion for accuracy
  • Balancing quick-turnaround assignments with longer-term projects
  • Collaborating with other journalists and developers with tools such as Git

While experience in journalism is a plus, we welcome applicants with other backgrounds. Our goal is to find a candidate who can use his or her technical skills to help us take our digital reporting to the next level.
