Reuters is looking for an innovative and energetic graphics journalist to help transform our news file in Asia. The graphics journalist will create financial and other information graphics and data-driven explanations to accompany news stories across a spectrum of topics, supporting the drive at Reuters for new ways to present the news.
This position is based in Singapore and will report to the Deputy Head of Graphics. The graphics journalist will be expected to work swiftly with little supervision under tight deadlines, producing graphics requested by Reuters text journalists and editors as well as generating original ideas for graphics.
Attention to detail and accuracy is a must. Technical mastery with applications such as Excel, Adobe Illustrator are required and proficiency with HTML, CSS and javascript are highly desired.
In addition to technical know-how, candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills. The post requires the ability to collaborate with graphics colleagues in New York and London as well as photo, video, and text reporters around the world.
Knowledge of financial data is an advantage.
Essential day-to-day responsibilities:
- Work to tight deadlines
- Understand the financial file and conceive vision of how to represent news graphically
- Creation of graphics requested by editors and journalists
- Generate original ideas for graphics

Qualifications
- Degree in journalism, and/or graphic design
- Knowledge of applications Excel, Adobe Illustrator a must
- Proficiency with HTML, CSS and javascript is desirable
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Enthusiasm, curiosity and numeracy are essential
