Front-End Developers
Exceptionally gifted front-end developers are sought to join an ambitious, well-funded interdisciplinary research group based in New York City. These hires will work closely with our world-class team of chemists, biologists, and computer scientists on developing web and mobile information-management interfaces that are critical to our research efforts.
Successful candidates will design and implement dynamic web applications that deliver rich and intuitive user experiences using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. In addition to UI/UX design, relevant areas of expertise might include JavaScript frameworks like React, Backbone, or Angular, WebGL, D3, Python, SQL, Django, Flask, Numpy, Matplotlib, and visualization of large datasets, but specific knowledge of any of these areas is less critical than exceptional intellectual ability and a demonstrated track record of achievement.
D. E. Shaw Research is pursuing long-term projects aimed at achieving major scientific advances in the fields of biochemistry and molecular biology using high-performance computation for molecular dynamics simulation. We are developing multiple generations of the Anton special-purpose supercomputer, as well as a variety of simulation tools that run on commodity clusters and GPUs, with the aim of fundamentally transforming the process of drug discovery.
