The Context:

With the rollout of the X1 “entertainment operating system,” Comcast is changing the way people experience television. X1 is a cloud-based platform that delivers a beautiful, rich, and highly personalized user interface to millions of Xfinity customers’ set-top boxes, tablet devices, and mobile apps.

Within CoMPASS, our job is to power X1’s content discovery services, including video search, browse, recommendations, and voice control products. So we need a smart and dedicated team of people who are passionate about helping our customers find stuff to watch on TV.

Job Summary:

The Reporting Analyst supports the CoMPASS product team by helping us understand how our customers are using our content discovery services. These services generate gigabytes of usage data everyday, and we need someone with the technical skills and business acumen to help us turn this data into information, so that we can use this intelligence to make decisions about how to manage our products.

Responsibilities:

• Support ongoing operation of – and continual improvements to – regular product reporting dashboards

• Preparation of ad-hoc charts to support executive reporting needs

• Periodic data-gathering activities and tactical analysis on an as-needed basis

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree in Business Information Systems, or equivalent experience at the intersection of information management and business analysis

• Capacity to understand, analyze, and summarize data in a clear, concise manner

• Excellent interpersonal skills for internal collaboration with stakeholders and technical specialists

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for external communication with management and other teams

• Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint proficiency

• Advanced skills in one or more data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Omniture SiteCatalyst, Google Analytics, Splunk)

• Knowledge of database query languages (e.g. SQL) and/or Hadoop query interfaces (e.g. Impala, Hive, Pig)

Job Specification:

• Ongoing, fulltime position based in downtown DC

• Requires Bachelors Degree or equivalent

• Generally requires 5-7 years related experience
