Hi,

Sundance institute is hiring a position to lead data research on the film industry (things like "how much money do indie movies really make?" and "what is the best distribution pattern for certain types of movies?"). We've had an ongoing transparency project with Cinereach, and this role will be full-time in managing it, at least initially. Key ideas related to this project will rely on surveying our community and the industry, with a goal to understanding the audience composition for our films.

Here is the job link, and please email artists...@sundance.org if you are interested.

We're looking for someone who knows a thing or too about data/stats, and has some decent visualization skills - but we don't require a data scientist, engineer or pure designer per se. More than anything we're looking for someone who can quickly conceive and understand data sets, propose systems to capture it and visualize it, and, above all, communicate clearly what the data we're getting suggests to our community of artists and industry.

We will have a matrix reporting here for this job - s/he will report to the Director, Creative Funding and Distribution, along with our heads of technology and marketing. The position is based in Los Angeles, but we may be open to other US-based locations for the right candidate.
