Balloon Tree Layout

Hello,

I am new here and to D3 world in general... 

I am working on a project which requires tree graph very close to Justin's Baloon Tree ( https://gist.github.com/justinvdm/3676778 ).. I tried to run the code, but it seems to be not working. 

I realize how long ago this was developed and maintained, but I was hoping somebody can point me to a newer (i.e. working) version of the balloon tree code.
