D3 time api

Hi

I checked that d3.time.day always generate a value at starts at the 1st of the month.
Similarly d3.time.weeks always generate a value at starts at the 0th week of the year.
Similarly d3.time.months always generate a value at starts at first day of the year (January 1) i.e. always the first month

Is there any default rule exist for d3,time,years as well?
Actually in my code, i am using filtering logic to avoid this default tick to comes so just want to know shall i apply this filtering logic for d3.time.years as well
