I'm trying to install Cytoscape, and am running into this:

##########################################################
Cytoscape System Requirements Checker for Windows
-------------------------------------------------

Target Cytoscape version: 3.5.0

Your Windows version is:

Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.15063]

Problem: Java not installed.

The "app" store at apps.cytoscape.org is reachable

Summary
-------

Your system has some issues.
Please fix those and re-run this script again:
- You need at least Java version 8.0
- Link to download Java: http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

More details on Java
--------------------

'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
##########################################################

I tried reinstalling Java, as well as adding Java's location to the system path variable. I can even pull up a command prompt, enter "java -version", and get this:
java version "1.8.0_131"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_131-b11)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 25.131-b11, mixed mode, sharing)

So what is the problem? By all accounts Java seems to be working fine, except with Cytoscape.

Hi --

The "Java not installed" problem occurs when Java cannot be executed from the command line, which is essential for running Cytoscape and its installer.

Could it be that you executed the troubleshooting script from within the browser?? If so, would you mind executing from a command line to see if you get a different result?

From your session capture, it appears that you may have installed 32 bit Java, which is what Oracle offers by default. This would be appropriate for a 32 bit Cytoscape installer. I'm guessing that you have a 64 bit Cytoscape installer. For that, we recommend the 64 bit Java, which is available here:

http://javadl.oracle.com/webapps/download/AutoDL?BundleId=220315_d54c1d3a095b4ff2b6607d096fa80163

... as captured from here: https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

Once that's installed, your "java -version" should produce something like this:

C:\Users\Barry Demchak>java -version
java version "1.8.0_121"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_121-b13)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.121-b13, mixed mode)

All right, I installed 64-bit Java and it seems to work fine now.

Thank you!
