Hello,

I am new to cytoscape so I appologize if this question should be obvious.  I have created a network of differentially expressed genes and have uploaded a new simplified network combining two GO terms signal transduction and reproduction.  I would like to color the genes coding for signal transduction as one color and reproduction as another.  I was able to use continuous mapping to add fold change as colors but now I would just like to manually click a gene and then change it to the color I want.  How I have setup my network I would really like to just do this manually but when I go to style and fill color it changes the color for all my genes in my network even when I highlight one selected gene.

Does anyone know how to manually change colors for each node in a network?

Thank you very much.  I appreciate the help.

Bonnie

Hi Bonnie,
You can use the bypass option in the style tab.

Select the node(s) you want to define the color manually for.
In the Style panel click on the box under the heading "Byp" next to the attribute you want to define a bypass for.
(the third square)

If you are using fill color then the color mapping should pop up so you can manually select a color.

There is brief description of the three columns in the style manager here (http://manual.cytoscape.org/en/stable/Styles.html?highlight=bypass#introduction-to-the-style-interface)

thanks,
Ruth
