Installation troubles - outdated Java

The Cytoscape system checker says that my system passes:

Yet when I try to install Cytoscape using the mac installer, I receive an error indicating that i need a newer version of Java:

I have JDK 1.8.0_131 installed, the latest release. Any thoughts? I have reinstalled Java, re-downloaded the Cytoscape installer, and restarted my computer all to no avail.
