Hi,

I am trying to get up and running using CW as part of our workflow.  However I can't seem to figure out how to work with multiple folders in one crosswalk.  I have the file name written as [folder]\[file],
However, when I get to the point the " Select the delimiters and significant rows for your file", it takes out the \ from the file path.

Not sure if this is the right forum, but it's the only place I found to ask.

Thanks.

Hello Elise,
When you say work with multiple folders, do you mean multiple delimited
data files (as input into MODS records) or do you mean multiple original
folders of data you want to capture as items in the arrangement.
In general I recommend using the "browse files" button to find the files
or folders in both cases. The syntax of the location field you mention
may not be what you expect. It may expect a "file://" URI and not a path.
Try using the button. If that works then you can use it as an example of
the URI syntax.

hope this helps,

Greg,
Not sure if I explained properly.
I have 2 folders I've brought into the project, and I have 1 delimited file with the metadata for each file.
The file has in column 1, <folder name>\<file name>, and then other related metadata.
I've brought the files into the project & the metadata for the crosswalk.
when I bring in the metadata, it gets rid of the "\", so I've lost the relative path for the file.
I've tried matching this without having the folder name, just the file name - but that doesn't seem to work either.  I'm not sure what I'm missing.  I'm sure it is something simple - but I can't manage to link the files to the MODS elements.

I've download the sample workbench files to see if I can find an example of metadata that has a file name or path in it, but the Panopto Metadata.csv file I found in the files doesn't seem to have filenames in any of the fields.  Am I missing something?

Ah, okay I think I get it. You are talking about the File/Folder name matcher and how it works with or without including the path. If you highlight that matcher widget, then look in the properties view, you will see details that you can change. I am not sure you want to include the path in the match, as that is more error prone. (Not sure if you'd need a / or a \ to accomplish that for instance.)  There is also a property for making the match case sensitive or not. Let me know if this helps.

yeah!  It did help.  Now I have those nice yellow arrows showing that the files are linked to MODs elements.

Thank you.  I'm gonna play with this for a while, but I might come back and ask you around the MODS elements, as there were some subelements I was expecting to see & I did not see.  I assume you can edit those?

oh, so I ended up taking the paths out of the file name, and then I played with the properties in the File/Folder Name matcher - even though I had file extensions written I turned those off.
thanks for your help.
