Thanks for setting up this group and apologies for the silence from my
side. I'm trying to pull a number of things back together following a
period of extended leave over the Summer, but I still want to support
this work and keep the conversation going about best to help
development and dissemination of this tool.

All the best

Thanks Neil,
Hopefully this group can help with that conversation.

(Sidenote: I tried to reply via email to the list, but it never showed up. I had to post this over the web.)

Also, this is a big welcome to the new members. I've been busy with invitations this week. Several colleagues have joined from recent meetings in the UK and from the Smithsonian Institution here in the US.

I am preparing a new release of the workbench this week. Consequently, I thought I would make sure I had a group to announce that to. I'll follow up with more about the release.

Hi Greg and fellow CW users!

I have two questions for you all.

1. Has anyone been able to modify the file path string in the checksum
to only have a part of the file visible? As records get moved around a
bit on the server and drive paths change it would be easier to do this
in a batch way than editing the METS file with an editor.

2. Has anyone ever used the "load resource" function in the MODS
editor? If so, what kind of resources were you loading?

Hi Rachel,

For (1) it seems like you want to have some kind of relative URL for file locations, so that the manifest and the staged/original files can be moved together to different storage locations. Does that sounds like what you're describing? If so, I think that would be a new kind of export feature - to a METS form that is more portable or another kind of manifest entirely, perhaps something like Bag-IT..

2) The "load resource.." option is not something I've had occasion to use. It is a menu option that is part of the generated code for the editor. I can probably hide it if it doesn't serve any purpose.

hope this helps,
Greg
