The first workshop (October 2) is full and a second workshop (September 29) has opened to meet demand. Both sessions are now full. This year's TWS conference will be virtual, due to COVID-19. Hello Chris,
There are a few folk from Australia who'd be interested in such a workshop - will these lectures be recorded at all, and/or might you have plans to run a longer workshop online any time soon? Under Covid-travel restrictions many of us can't travel right now.
Thank you!
Jo

Hi Joanne,

With TWS oral presentations, I know that they are recorded and hosted online for everyone that registered for the conference, whether physically or virtually. I have inquired about the workshops being recorded and will update when I hear back.

This past fall, I started doing quarterly webinars that are 1-2 hours. Those are announced on this forum and the summer webinar should get scheduled in a couple of weeks. The content rotates and will reset in the fall, so with 4 webinars in a year, that's almost a day's worth in total.

Best,
Chris

Hi Joanne,

TWS will be virtual this year and we've increased the capacity from 20 to 50, since we don't plan to give as much one-on-one assistance. They don't have definite enough plans yet to answer whether or not the workshops can be recorded.

Best,
Chris

Hi Chris, do we register for the virtual workshop when we register for the conference?  Thank you, Robin

Hi Robin,

Yes, you register for workshops when you register for the conference. They are a little extra to cover TWS's costs to host and support, but its very minimal ($15-$30).

Best,
Chris

Hi Chris,

Do you have any updates on whether the workshop will be recorded? I also wondered what level of R familiarity participants should have; will the workshop be geared toward a specific skill level?

Thank you,
Zachary

Hi Zachary,

I've just gotten word from TWS that "recording workshops is not an option due to a number of legal and logistical obstacles", but if it fills up then we can offer a second session.

As for the level of R required, it will start off pretty simple with just a few commands and maybe a list or two. If we get into some batch coding, then there might be a for loop or lapply.

Best,
Chris

FYI, the first workshop on October 2nd has filled all 50 seats and TWS has offered for us to host a second session, which will be held on the 29th.
